“Daddy, you’re fat!” My face burned with embarrassment when my little daughter said these words. But I knew she wasn’t saying them to be mean. I was fat. More than 50 pounds overweight and completely frustrated.
Every time my wife looked at me, I heard her unspoken words. “You’re overweight.” All I heard was nagging but deep beneath the surface, I knew she was worried. You see she knew my father died at the age of 53 of a stroke because he was so overweight. I was rapidly approaching that age and I was running out of excuses because…
Nothing Worked!
I had tried everything under the sun from diets to weight loss gadgets and devices. My closet overflowed with weight loss books each promising simple solutions. I secretly ordered things I saw on infomercials ranging from the promising to the absurd.
I bought so many things from that curly headed guy in the baggy shorts because he seemed so convincing. Yeah I fell for those cards telling you what you could eat. And I bought those video tapes so you could sweat with him in front of your television. None of them did anything.
Like so many people, I blamed myself. If only I had more will power. People told me I needed to exercise more. That’s when I found out…
Hiring A Personal Trainer Didn’t Help
It was time to get serious so I hired a series of personal trainers. I stayed with each one way too long. Each one had their unique take on food, diet, exercise, and weight loss. One trainer told me the secret to success was eating a grilled chicken breast, some broccoli, and a small baked potato five times a day. Every time we met, we got on the scale and watched the scales go up. Another trainer barked at me and called me a sissy when he kept increasing the weights to lift beyond my ability; I got a herniated muscle in my abdomen as a result. One trainer chased every woman in the gym instead of helping me. I was desperate for a miracle then I accidentally discovered…
The Yoga Weight Loss Diet
All I knew about yoga was that little Indian gurus contorted their bodies into pretzel shapes. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Now you have to understand when I began yoga I was not flexible – at all. In fact, I told people that not only couldn’t I touch my toes, we weren’t even in the same zip code.
My physical condition wasn’t just bad – it was horrible.
Just look at my before picture on the left; it looks like I was pregnant – with twins.
But when I looked at the people doing yoga, their bodies were slim and muscular. I desperately wanted that appearance for myself. So I told myself just do the yoga and don’t worry about the weight.
When I started yoga, I had a torn rotator cuff. All of the muscles in my body were tight. And did I mention…
My Life Was Filled With Stress
My life was stressful with on the job pressures, meeting deadlines, and dealing with clients. I regularly worked late into the night and weekends too. I was doing everything wrong. I was eating at all hours of the night and virtually inhaling junk food as comfort food. Still, I was stunned when I…
Lost Four Pounds The First Week
I was stunned. There had to be a problem with the scale. It told me I had lost four pounds the first week. Holy cow. Yoga was more fun than working out with weights. And it was way more interesting than the endless boredom of working out on cardio machines in the gym. I wondered…could yoga be the answer I was looking for…
The second week, I looked forward to my yoga lessons even more and kept my weight loss a secret. I wanted to know…could weight loss really be this simple?
When I got on the scale at the end of the second week, I was down a grand total of seven pounds. I went out and bought another scale just to be sure. There was no doubt, yoga was helping me burn off the fat at a pace I never thought possible.
People Began To Notice
My clothing sizes began to drop – rapidly. My shirts went from a double extra large to a medium. And the waist size of my pants went from a super-sized 42 down to an extra slim 33. People began to ask me what I was doing differently. They all laughed when I told them yoga.
The pounds continued to drop. Along with the weight loss, I was increasing my flexibility and strength. I rejoiced as I passed the 20, 25, and 30 pound milestones.
In my business I travel frequently and see colleagues I haven’t seen in months. One close friend saw me after I lost 40 pounds and promptly labeled me “anorexic” in jest. Everyone told me I looked terrific. My energy level was at an all time high. I just kept up my yoga routine and my secret eating plan I devised.
I Was Sick Of Dieting
Every diet had one thing in common. There were magic foods you were supposed to eat which would melt away the pounds and there were foods you weren’t allowed to eat – ever. I don’t know about you but the idea of never being able to eat ice cream, pizza, or cakes didn’t seem realistic to me.
And even worse, every time I gave one of these diets my all and stuck with them for months, the pounds came right back. These diets weren’t designed for real people in real life situations. When you’re on the way to work and you stop in at a coffee or donut shop, you need to know what to it. That’s when I invented…
The Yoga Weight Loss Diet
I’ve purchased hundreds of diet books in my day. I’ve tried them all and found none of them worked for long term results. My eating depended on which diet I was following. My diet ranged from only protein and green vegetables at one point to only high fiber carbs and no fat or dairy at another point, I became a vegetarian, a carnivore, even trying to eat only raw foods.
But the secret to my success came out of something my yoga teacher said to me the first week. “Harlan, you can’t deprive yourself of the foods you enjoy and expect to succeed.”
It suddenly became clear to me. The reason all my diets failed was because I was denying myself the foods I wanted until I gave up on diets and went back to eating my favorite foods.
Once I combined my new eating plan with yoga the results got even better until…
My Friends Didn’t Recognize Me At All!
I was at a seminar in Atlanta when I spotted two friends on the other side of the bar. I waved at them but they didn’t see me. I walked over to them and stood in front of them; no response.
Finally I approached them and stuck out my hand. One of them looked at me and said, “And you are?”
“It’s Harlan I said.” They didn’t believe me. It took a moment to convince them who I was and word spread faster than a brush fire. “Look at Harlan!”
People I had known for years came up to me and asked my secret. They laughed when I told them yoga until they saw me in the gym the next morning doing my yoga routine. I became an instant celebrity with everyone asking me, “Do you think yoga can work for me?”
But it got even better when someone said…
I Thought You Were Your Son!
I was walking to synagogue one morning and waved to a friend. They gave a polite wave back. It was less than the usual greeting. When I drew near, their eyes went wide with astonishment. “Rabbi, I thought you were your son.” This friend was so impressed she said, “Rabbi, you must share your story with others who want to lose weight.”
I began to research whether my results in yoga were unique. I found study after study which convinced me they weren’t. For example…
Speed Up Your Metabolism!
Many forms of yoga raise the heart rate into the aerobic range. But you don’t need to exert yourself to lose weight with yoga. Some studies show even gentle yoga and breathing techniques crank up your tired metabolism so you can lose weight.
A study at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle linked yoga and weight loss. This study of over 15,000 men and women showed people who did yoga lost weight while the control group gained weight.
Another study presented last year at the America Heart Association found yoga helped overweight high school students lose weight while the control group gained weight.
And the famed Dr. Dean Ornish encourages his patients to practice yoga to help ensure weight loss. When you do yoga and make it part of your lifestyle, you’ll soon discover it’s power for weight loss.
Hollywood’s Weight Loss Secret
Hollywood and Rock stars have flocked to yoga to help them keep the lean bodies everyone sees in public. Some of the most famous stars who practice yoga are Madonna and Sting. Doing yoga enables them to have the stamina to perform in public for hours.
In the golf world, I discovered Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh use yoga to help maintain their shape, increase their concentration, and relax under pressure. You name the sport and you’ll find professional athletes are using yoga to improve their performance.
As I examined the yoga DVDs available in the stores I found they fell into two categories: impossibly difficult or too simple to accomplish anything. There was no product which would take people from beginning yoga all the way through a comprehensive weight loss program.
And even worse, no program combined yoga with a simple eating program so simple, it’s impossible to fail.

Loses 18 Pounds Doing Gentle Yoga
My wife Sharon read
through this letter and asked, "Aren't you going to tell the people
my story?" I asked her, "What is your story?" She
said, "I've been doing just gentle yoga - the kind on DVD number
one - and I lost 18 pounds in less than a year. I weigh the
same amount as I did when I got married after 5 kids!" -

The Weight Loss Teacher of The Stars
I began my search for the perfect yoga teacher for my DVD series. I interviewed many teachers until I struck gold.
In the center of New York’s theatre district is a yoga studio frequented by actors and actresses of Broadway and the Silver Screen. You could walk right by this studio and not know someone famous was upstairs doing yoga to keep their fabulous body in shape.

In that studio, one of the teachers is in high demand. Her name is Lori McAllister and she demonstrates yoga so clearly even a beginner can follow what to do with their body for maximum benefit. It was a stroke of luck when Lori agreed to share her secrets in a series of videos.
Snagging Lori as the instructor was an incredible piece of luck but I had to move quickly before she changed her mind. I rented a studio on Broadway where stars audition for parts in famous shows and recorded Lori’s every move. When the DVDs where finally ready, I was stunned because Lori made it look so simple, almost anyone could follow her yoga DVDs.
The DVDs are sharp. Every movement is fully explained. But one thing you ought to know. We didn’t fly to Hawaii or some exotic location because our focus wasn’t on scenery…
It was on your results! So if you want waves, surf, and sun you'll have to go elsewhere. But if you want results, this is the place!
What makes it even better is…
